Greene Named ACC Volleyball Player of the Week
 
Senior Captain Averages 4.78 Kills and 4.22 Digs Per Game

The Atlantic Coast Conference office announced today that senior outside hitter Laura Greene has been named ACC Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 3, 2002 .

Greene, who was named Most Valuable Player of the Carolina/Nike Classic, averaged 4.78 kills and 4.22 digs per game as the Tar Heels started the season 3-0. In the tournament, UNC beat New Mexico State 3-0, St. John's 3-0 and No. 10 Wisconsin 3-1.

Greene played a crucial role in the deciding match vs. Wisconsin, posting 10 kills and hitting .474. For the weekend, she hit .263 and averaged 0.56 service aces and 0.44 blocks per game.

Her play was key to the team cracking the Top 25, ranking No. 23 in the nation in Monday's poll.
