CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina outside hitter Laura Greene was named Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading the No. 12 Tar Heels to a pair of conference wins.
Greene, a senior from Yadkinville, N.C., averaged 6.00 kills and 5.25 digs as Carolina topped No. 23 Georgia Tech 3-2 and Clemson 3-0. The wins moved the Tar Heels up from No. 13 in the latest USA Today/AVCA Division I Coaches Poll also released today.
She had 26 kills and 28 digs in the Georgia Tech win, and 22 kills and 14 digs in the Clemson win. She is currently ranked third in the ACC with 4.19 kills per game and second with 3.65 digs per game.
Also the ACC Player of the Week the first week of the season (Sept. 3), the co-captain has led the Tar Heels to a 23-2 overall record, 10-1 in the ACC. This is the third time Carolina has earned player of the week this season, with sophomore outside hitter Molly Pyles winning the award Oct. 14
