Pyles Named ACC Volleyball Player of the Week
 
Sophomore Records Two Double-Doubles In Conference Wins Over Duke, Wake Forest

GREENSBORO, N.C.--North Carolina sophomore outside hitter Molly Pyles is the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the ACC office released today. Pyles recorded two double-doubles last week as the No. 11 Tar Heels (17-1, 5-0) topped Duke and Wake Forest on back to back nights.

Pyles was also named the Carolina Waterscapes Student-Athlete of the Week as the top performer on any of Carolina's fall sports teams.

In Carolina's 3-1 defeat of the Blue Devils, Pyles matched a career high with 18 kills and set a new career high with 17 digs. She hit .333 in the match and added a service ace. One night later vs. Wake Forest, Pyles again recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. She hit .500 with just one error and also recored a pair of blocks in the team's 3-0 win.

For the week, she averaged 4.43 kills per game, 4.00 digs per game and hit .394 - tops on the team in all three catergories.

The Tar Heels, who are the highest ranked ACC team in history, host East Carolina University Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Carmichael Auditorium. It is the team's final home match of October.
